Bulverde Texas History:
When Bulverde was first established in 1850 it was called Pieper Settlement, after Anton Pieper. For years the town’s mail was delivered once a week to the home of Carl Koch. The Bulverde post office was established in 1879 and discontinued in 1919. The current post office was established in 1959 in Charles L. Wood’s Store. Up until the 1960s, the town’s population hovered at approximately 100. It fell to a low of 25. The town’s population has been steadily increasing due to its proximity to San Antonio. Bulverde is located on Cibolo Creek at the intersection of U.S. 281 and SH 46, 25.5 miles northwest of New Braunfels, 26 miles northwest of Schertz, 17 miles northwest of Garden Ridge, 26 miles north of San Antonio, 44.3 miles northeast of Mico, 26.7 miles northeast of Helotes, 38 miles southeast of Comfort, 21 miles southeast of Boerne, 26 miles south of Blanco, 12 miles south of Spring Branch, 14.8 miles southwest of Startzville and 25.5 miles northwest of New Braunfels, Texas. 
S.T.A.G.E., Bulverde:
This Bulverde theatre group has been active for more than 30 years; they produce four season shows, occasional special shows, and bring in touring productions. The group hosts theatre arts classes, and offers an outreach program at the Bulverde Senior Center for a reader’s theatre group, the Encore Players. (830) 438-2339. P.O. If you are coming from San Antonio on U.S. 281, do NOT take the first Bulverde exit road you come to, wait until you see the big green sign that says FM 1863 Bulverde, exit right, turn left at Stop sign, and drive three miles, the theatre will be on your left. Bulverde/Spring Branch Public Library, Bulverde, TX:
The library provides traditional library programs, children, youth and adult programs, summer programs, public access computers with internet connections, and free Wi-Fi.
