West Tawakoni Texas History:
West Tawakoni was established during the 1960s after the completion of Lake Tawakoni. The town was incorporated in 1967. It is located on the shores of Lake Tawakoni on FM 35/SH 276 (Quinlan Parkway),
21 miles northeast of Terrell, 37.6 miles northeast of Rowlett, 27.8 miles east of Rockwall and Lake Ray Hubbard, 22.8 miles southeast of Greenville, 36 miles southeast of Celeste, 39 miles southwest of Commerce, 32 miles southwest of Campbell, 10.5 miles southwest of Lone Oak, 10.9 miles southwest of Point, 6.6 miles west of East Tawakoni, 15.7 miles northwest of Emory, 35 miles northwest of Canton, and 21 miles northwest of Wills Point, Texas.
 
Cotton Pickin' Theater, City of Point, TX:
This renovated cotton gin hosts the “Shindig Band” each Saturday night at 7:30pm, except the 4th Saturday. Each show features guest vocalists and musicians performing traditional country and gospel songs. On the 4th Saturday of each month the Rural American Idol holds singing competitions for all ages. Annual Christmas Lighting Ceremony and Community Celebration in Quinlan, TX, Dec:
Activities at this free event include the lighting of the Christmas tree, professional like photos with Santa, mini train rides, face painting, games, pony rides, a petting zoo, and more. This event is held at 301 Main Street and the Joe Martin Administration building in Quinlan.
 
Dalusa Organic Ranch, 120 Acres, Point, TX:
Stephanie McCarter raises 100% organic grass-fed beef. Carter rotates pasture grazing on native Texas grasses, and has two natural ponds for water use. Beef is dry aged for 21 days, wrapped in cellophane instead of plastics, and sold pre-ordered as whole, haves, and split halves. It is sold by the cut on site or from a pick-up site in Dallas near Walnut Hill Lane and North Central Expressway. Cuts are also available at Roy’s Natural Market at 130 Preston Royal Village in Dallas. They also sell organic fed Hereford mixed cows and heifers; photos available by email. (903) 598-6822.
