Santa Fe Texas History:
The community grew up around the Gulf, Colorado, and Santa Fe Railroad stop in 1877. Its location near Galveston prevented growth until the 1930s. The communities of Arcadia and Alta Loma have been absorbed into Santa Fe. The Santa Fe train depot has been restored. Incorporated Santa Fe is located on SH 6 and FM 1764, 38 miles southeast of Houston, 25 miles southwest of La Porte, 9 miles southeast of Alvin30 miles northeast of Angleton, 46.5 miles northeast of Surfside Beach, 5 miles west of Texas City, and 20.5 miles northwest of Galveston, Texas.  
 
College of the Mainland:

Annual Galveston County Fair & Rodeo, April:
Activities include livestock shows, Rodeo Arena events, a cook-off, a carnival, Las Vegas Nights, Boots N’ Wine, Winterfest, and more.
