Leon Springs Texas History:
In 1846, German immigrant George von Pleve operated a stage stop. A community grew up around his business. The Leon Springs post office was established in 1857; it closed in 1918. By 1885, the town had a steam cotton gin, a general store, two hotels and 50 residents. The population declined until World War II when it began to grow due to its proximity to Camp Bullis (Army basic training camp) and Camp Stanley. The town remains unincorporated. It is partially located within the city limits of San Antonio. Leon Springs is located on U.S. 10/U.S. 87 and FM 3351 (Ralph Fair Road), approximately 12 miles southeast of Boerne, 21 miles northwest of downtown San Antonio, 13 miles northeast of Helotes, 27 miles southeast of Boerne, 40 miles southeast of Bandera, 30 miles southwest of Spring Branch, and 32 miles southwest of Startzville, Texas.
 
Leon Springs Dance Hall, 1993:
From 1993 to New Year’s Eve, 2005 when it closed, the dancehall enjoyed an influx of sold-out events including annual Labor Day and New Year's Eve parties, private parties and special bookings, and weekends that when opened to the general public, would exceed attendance expectations. Floore Country Store Dance Hall, 1942, Helotes, TX:
In the early 1919, Wilbert “Bert” Hileman built a dance hall and boarding house. He sold his property in 1919 when the town’s population began to decline. In 1946, the manager of San Antonio's Majestic Theatre, John T. Floore, opened John T. Floore Country Store, the world renowned dancehall which draws national music talent.Floore Country Store has hosted Texas and American music legends such as Willie Nelson, Bob Wills, Ernest Tubb, Patsy Cline, Hank Williams, Elvis Presley, Bob Dylan, Jerry Lee Lewis, Merle Haggard, Ray Price, George Jones, Waylon Jennings, Dwight Yoakam, Lyle Lovett, Robert Earl Keene, BB King, Little Richard and many more; it is known as the birthplace of Willie Nelson who immortalized John T. Floore in “Shotgun Willie.” John Floore and Willie were partners in the original Willie Nelson Music Company. The hall offers live music and dancing, and features a store and a restaurant. Floore is available for private events. The dance hall is listed in the National Register of Historic Places and is a Texas Historic Landmark. Open Fri-Sat, 11am-10pm; Sun, 11am-9pm. Go right on SH 16, and drive approximately 2.5 miles; Floore Country Store will be on your left.

LLeon Springs Family Market, Leon Springs, TX, 1st & 3rd Wed, Mar-Nov:
The market sells regional fresh organic produce and other farmer’s market items. It is a growers and producers only market. Open March to November on the 1st & 3rd Wednesday of the month from 2:30pm-5:30 pm. The market is held at the Leon Springs Presbyterian Church at 23943 IH-10 West, near the Leon Springs Elementary School.
