Jamaica Beach Texas History:
Jamaica Beach, a former Karankawa burial ground, was developed as a resort subdivision in 1957 by Johnny Goyen and Earl Galceran of the Jamaica Corporation, The 2,000 lot development was incorporated in 1975. Jamaica Beach is located on Galveston Island on FM 3005 and West Bay, on the southwestern side of Galveston Island State Park.  
Seawolf Park on Pelican Island:
The USS Cavalla SS-244 Gato class submarine, and the USS Stewart, an Edsall class destroyer, are located within the park. Sleepovers are available for groups. The park was built on a former immigration station site. Park amenities include a three-story pavilion with a view of Galveston harbor, picnic sites, a playground area and a lighted fishing pier. In 2014, 40 RV Sites with full hookups were being constructed. Seawolf Park is available for company picnics, school field trips and private parties. The park is open year round, dawn to dusk. An admission fee applies; group rates are available. (409) 797-5114. Soon after crossing the Causeway, I-45 becomes Broadway (SR-87, Ave. J). Continue traveling along Broadway for approximately .8 miles to 51st St. Turn left on 51st St. and travel approximately 1.9 miles to Seawolf Parkway. 51st St. becomes Seawolf Parkway after crossing the Pelican Island Causeway. Seawolf Parkway ends at Seawolf Park. From the Bolivar Island Ferry, take Ferry Road (SR 87) and head southeast approximately 0.9 miles. Go right onto Harborside Drive and travel 4.5 miles to 51st Street. Go right on 51st Street; 51st Street becomes Seawolf Parkway and ends at the park. Map 
Annual Events:
The park board hosts several annual events including the Easter Egg Hunt, Jamaica Beach Spring and Fall Clean-up Days, the Memorial Day and July 4th Fundraiser Dances, a Halloween event, the December Light-up of Jamaica Beach and the Christmas Boat Parade. (409) 737-1142.

Annual Harvest Moon Regatta, October:
This event features a 150 mile offshore sailboat regatta that leaves from the Pleasure Pier in Galveston and sails to the Port Aransas City Marina. This event is hosted by the Lakewood Yacht Club of Seabrook, Texas, and the Regatta Headquarters are located at the Yacht Club. Email
