Highland Village Texas History:
The town incorporated in the early 1960s. Its location on Lewisville Lake and its proximity to Denton and Dallas have contributed to its growth. Highland Village is located on IH-35 East on the south shore of the Hickory Creek Arm of Lake Lewisville, 6 miles south of Corinth, 4.2 miles south of Hickory Creek, 3.6 miles southwest of Lake Dallas, 6.3 miles northwest of Lewisville, 10.5 miles southeast of Argyle, and 12.7 miles southwest of Denton, Texas.
Studio B Performing Arts Center:
This non-profit performing arts group offers classes

Lakes City Library:
This library serves Hickory Creek, Corinth, Lake Dallas, Shady Shores and Denton County; it counts on donations to make library improvements. The library provides traditional library programs, children, youth and adult programs, summer programs, online books, cassette or CD books, music CDs and CD-Roms, movies, television shows, online job search, public access computers with internet connections, and free Wi-Fi. Highland Village Senior Fun Activities:
Game days are held at the DuVall Center on Mondays and Thursdays, 9:30am-noon. Other activities include Meals on Wheels, monthly bingo, lunch brunches, pot lucks, and book club meetings. Pickle Ball is available on Mon-Tue & Thu, at 1pm at the DuVall Center. Every Tuesday seniors meet at the AMC Theater in Highland Village for a movie. Choctaw Casino Day Trips are on the third Wednesday of each month; sign up by the second Wednesday of each month.
Lake Cities Senior Program, Lake Dallas:
The Lake Dallas City Hall hosts senior residents from the towns of Hickory Creek, Corinth, Lake Dallas and Shady Shores each Tuesday from 10am-noon. On alternating Tuesdays the Wal-Mart store in Hickory Creek hosts bingo for fun prizes and gift cards. On other the other Tuesdays, they host dominos, card games and an occasional pot luck luncheon. Highland Village Park Facilities & DuVall Community Center:
The parks department offers Athletic Fields
rentals and rentals of the Robert and Lee DuVall Community Center.

Event, Annual Easter Egg Hunt at Unity Park, March or April:
This free event is held at 10am at the Unity Park baseball fields behind Briarhill Middle School at2200 Briarhill Boulevard. Activities include photos with the Easter Bunny, face painting, a bounce house, a fire engine, Freddy’s Frozen Custard and the egg hunt. (972) 317-7430.
Annual Concerts in Pilot Knoll Park, Summer to Fall:

Annual Lions Club Balloon Festival and Fair, Aug:
Festivities include children’s activities, arts and crafts booths, food vendors, games, a Car Bash, Boogie Woogie Choo Choo, raffles, the Navy’s Blue Angels flight simulator (for children and adults), the TKO sport kite team, a pancake breakfast, balloon races and live music. This event is held at Copperas Branch Park; park will be closed to non-festival visitors. It is hosted by the Highland Village, The Colony and the Lewisville Lions Club. Annual Family Campout, Oct:
Activities include a tent decorating contest, S’mores, a late night movie, and other fun activities. This event s held at Pilot Knoll Park Campground at 218A Orchid Hill Road, Argyle, Texas 76226.
Annual Fallen Hero Bike Race & 5K, Oct:
Activities include the bike race, the 5K, live music, children’s activities, and more. Proceeds benefit the Texas Chiefs of Police Fallen Officer Fund. This event is held at The Shops at Highland Village from 3pm-7pm.(972) 899-5131. Email
Annual Parade of Lights Holiday Lighting Contest, Dec:
Residents decorate their homes in line with one of five categories, including Spirt of the Holiday’s Award, most creative display, best theme, most outstanding lights and best decorated street. Prizes are awarded for each category. Residents must register to enter the contest. Annual Our Village Glows Tree Lighting Celebration, Dec:
Activities include the lighting of a 54 foot tall Christmas tree at the Shops of Highland Village, carolers, entertainment, cookie decorating, treats to eats and a visit from Santa Claus.
