Cottonwood Shores Texas History:
This community began as a housing development in the 1970s. It incorporated in approximately 1987.
Cottonwood Shores is located on the shores of Lake LBJ at the northeast intersection of FM 2147 and South Wirtz Dam Road, 18 miles southwest of Burnet, 5 miles southwest of Marble Falls, 17.8 miles northwest of Spicewood, 26 miles northeast of Johnson City, 3.4 miles northeast of Horseshoe Bay, 32 miles southeast of Llano, approximately 28 miles southeast of Buchanan Dam, and 20 miles southeast of Kingsland, Texas.
 
Hill Country Community Theatre, Cottonwood Shores, TX:
This all volunteer community theatre presents approximately 5 shows a year in a 147 seat theater. Auditions are open to the public.  A children’s theater program is operated in partnership with the Harmony School of Creative Arts and Faith Academy. Box Office: (830) 798-8944. Annual Burnet County Area Fair & Rodeo, A Weekend in June:
Residents from Burnet, Bell, Blanco, Lampasas, Llano, San Saba, Travis, and Williamson Counties are eligible to enter fair competitions. Fair activities at the Burnet Community Center include many competitions, a visit from the hill Country Flyer, The Burnet Gunfighters, the Lake Area Rods and Classic Car Club Show, a barbeque lunch, a variety of vendors, a raffle, children’s entertainment, and much more. (512) 663-7941. The Burnet Community Center is located at 401 East Jackson Street. Rodeo activities include bull riding, bronc bustin’, roping, steer wrestling, mutton bustin’, calf scramble, rodeo queens, live music and dancing. Annual Cottonwood Shores Friends of the Library Christmas Lighting, Dec:
Homes are decorated from November 30th through Dec 10th. Those chosen as best decorated will have a sign placed on their lawns; prizes will be awarded at the regular December Chamber of Council meeting. (830) 693-6467.
