Fowlerton Texas History:
In the early 1900s, James and Charles established the Fowler Brothers Land Company with the purpose of developing 100,000 acres from the original Dull Ranch. They established the town of Fowlerton and were instrumental in providing the town with rail service from the San Antonio, Uvalde and Gulf Railway. They constructed two irrigation dams, a hotel, and a cotton gin, and built 200 miles of roads. They advertised and financed 10 to 160 acre farm tracts for sale, and gave each purchaser a free town lot. The population grew to 1,200 residents by 1914. In 1917, the town began to decline due to a draught destroying farm crops, and low commodity prices. The Fowler brothers also faced lawsuits accusing them of fraudulent marketing practices. By 1925, the town had 600 residents. In 2000 the population was 62 and the town had three businesses. Fowlerton is located on SH 97, 41 miles west of Three Rivers, 18.6 miles west of Tilden, 39 miles southeast of Pearsall, 45 miles southwest of Pleasanton, and 25 miles east of Cotulla, Texas.
