Lake Grapevine

Lake Grapevine Information:
The 6,684 surface acre Grapevine Lake is located on Denton Creek, a tributary of the Elm Fork of the Trinity River. The 12,850 foot long dam is 137 feet high. The lake was impounded in 1952. It has a maximum depth of 65 feet. The lake protects Dallas and the Trinity River Valley below the dam from floods originating in the Dent Creek watershed. It provides water for the cities of Grapevine, Dallas, University Park and Highland Park. Boat ramps and lakeside parks are managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and the lakeside cities of Grapevine, Flower Mound, and Trophy Club, Texas.

Denton Creek:
The creek rises four miles northeast of Bowie in central Montague County. It flows southeast for 32 miles through Wise and Denton Counties before forming Lake Grapevine in Grapevine, Texas.
